Ok, so I've had a problem keeping my own rule about posting once a week. But that's ok because now I actually have a couple of things to talk about. The first is, I finally was able to get a decent picture of the complex we live in now. The weather is starting the shape up and the high has been around 65-70, so we finally get some decent weather for a change. Any ways, here's a picture of our building:

We just bought a propane grill and had to put it together. Yes, the complex still looks like this, no it didn't blow up.....yet. But Rachael loves it. We had a charcoal grill at the old place, but it was such a cheapy that it didn't let enough oxygen into the mix to start a fire!
As for Rachael, she's starting a new job this week. She's been working at Talbots, but I'm sure you all know how tough the retail business can be, especially now. Her new job is at a country club, where she is the front-desk receptionist. Basically, she takes care of the office-related stuff, books tee times, greets the guests, etc. She's excited about it and from what she tells me, it sounds like she will enjoy her new job.
That's it for now, but next week I'll reveal our vacation plans for July.

Just a note to say Happy Birthday to Conner Smith, our grandson. He is two years old today and such a joy!He calls Cindy "Nana" and calls me "Grampy" and we both answer really good when we hear those words!

This past Saturday May 3rd, Emma and Grayson won medals for their year end performance at their Gymnastic Meet. Emma has taken Gymnastics for two years now, while this is Grayson's first year. Their performance included work on the high balance beam, the parallel bars, and cart wheels and tumbling on the Gym floor. I think by the picture you can see they are proud of their accomplishments. They really did a great job. The event fielded over 50+ competitors and lasted 2 hours.
They've both decided that this will be their last year in Gymnastics. Emma wants to pursue "Clogging" (at the same studio), and Grayson wants to devote a greater amount of time to Girl Scouts. We hope everyone has a great start to their month of May this week! Stay in touch.

I know I'm the worst in the world when it comes to spelling, so I ask you to please overlook my weakness! The one word that I noticed I "killed" was SNUFF! I hope you at least forgive me for that as my wife Jane is at the beach this weekend and she is a Great at helping me!

"What lies behind you and what lies before you are tiny matters compared to what lies within you."

Above is one of my favorite quotes and just wanted to share with all of you.
Today I’m just going to talk about some things that I remember as I’m in one of those moods today. If any of you want to ask questions or make comments about any of the following please let me hear from you and I will do my best to answer them.

Hello everyone! We just got back from our first "CRASH" Retreat - (Congregational Retreat and Social Hiatus) - with our Church Family. We traveled to Flat Rock, NC to the Bonclarken Conference Center. It was one of those "Adventure Activity" Retreats which included Caving, Climbing Towers, High Rope Courses, Zip Line Traversing, and Hiking. A place like this is NOT a vacation when you've got a 5 and 7 year old. Whew! I'm beat and need "another" vacation! Jen was part of the CRASH committee and was busy organizing many of the children events - while I took the girls over to the Dupont Forest and WaterFall area. Climbing up to the water falls was tough for EVERY age group - not to mention the Dad's (like me) with the 5 year olds that ask to be carried while climbing a ridge. Ugh! It was worth every step upon arriving. We played around the water falls for the afternoon. Many places were prime for just "jumping in" for a swim - but it was too cold. We've already planned to return during the summer for a swim and to again watch the fly fishermen perform their amazing techniques. Grayson put on a back pack for the hike - along with binoculars and bug catcher holder - a true naturalist! She caught really beautiful butterflies and showed them to everyone, and them released them back to the wild. Talk about a young understanding of catch and release! Emma hung with the teenage girls - and made many new "older" friends who loved having her along - and held her hand a lot for the journey. Here they are at the second of three steps of the falls posing for the camera. I think you can tell that they are as different as day and night just by looking at the photos. As a Dad, I had a GREAT time and tons of fun with them.Until next time!Mark
